On May 19, 2007 Houston Camera Exchange and Tamron, Inc. sponsored a Macro Field Workshop journey to the Cockrell Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
The day started with breakfast at HCE while Ruben Dario Cruz, Tamron regional representative and macro expert, explained macro photography techniques and demonstrated various macro equipment.
Then the sold-out group of twenty-five lucky photographers were given Tamron macro lenses to fit their particular camera model and they caravanned to the Butterfly Center to shoot.
For three hours, the participants had the rainforest all to themselves (it was closed to the general public), where they shot picture after picture while Ruben, joined by Abby Jeter and Charlie Mann from HCE, roamed to provide assistance, tips and equipment changes as requested.
The participants all said they had a great time, learned a lot and can't wait for HCE's next outing.
Many of the participants were excited to provide us with their chosen images from the day and we are proud to present this gallery to showcase their work.
Enjoy!
