Philippe Henry was born in France in 1954.
He worked as a photographer in the French
Air Force for many years then specialized in
wildlife photography. From 1985 to 1992, he
visited Iceland and Finland to photograph
the wildlife, looking for whooper swans,
brown bears and other species. He was
sponsored by the French Explorers and
Travelers Society and the Kodak and Pentax
companies for the excellence of his work,
and his first story - The Whooper Swans -
was published in magazines such as Airone,
International Wildlife, Birds, Animan, Terre
Sauvage, Iceland Review and others. Since
moving to Canada in 1994, Philippe works
with wildlife biologists and reports on
their work in magazines and books.
In June 2000, Philippe
traveled to Texas to meet with wildlife
biologists who study American alligators. He
spent several months there documenting their
work, and covered a story, which has been
published in European magazines. He also
wrote a children’s book for his European
publishers: L’Ecole des Loisirs
(France-2003), and Klematis (Denmark-2003).
Today, Philippe is still working in Texas on
another book on the American alligator,
which is to be published in the US by Texas
A&M University Press. He is also working on
